Project Children
As Host Families have
not been secured for the Summer 2007 program, the Papago Rotary Club
will not be participating in the direct sponsorship of Project
Children participants this year. It is our hope to secure
hosts in the future for our students and continue participation in
this outstanding program in 2008.
The Papago Rotary Club
annually sponsors two participants in Project Children, a national program working
toward developing peace and understanding in Northern Ireland, two
children at a time.
The national Project Children
organization, and its founders Denis and Pat Mulcahy, have been
working over the past twenty-five years using a simple and effective
method. Two children from Northern Ireland, one Catholic, one
Protestant are matched and visit the United States during the
summer. The children live with a host family, learn about the
United States and each other. Since it's founding, Project
Children has hosted more than 14,000 children. The Papago
Rotary Club is proud to support this fine effort again in
2006.
This year we welcomed Niamh and
Demi from County Antrim. The young ladies arrived in the US on
June 28th and visited the Papago Rotary Club on July 14th and July
21st. They returned home July 27th.
Special thanks to the
Montgomery,Taylor, and Sarnicki families for serving as hosts
while the girls are in Arizona.
